Chris leads the team at Impact Pathways to help our clients create positive impact for society and the environment while preserving and creating business value.

Chris utilizes her 30 years of business expertise when working with clients to advance sustainability, impact and Environmental Social Governance (ESG). Chris’ expertise was developed through her years as a leader in EY’s Climate Change and Sustainability Services practice as well as her hands-on experience as an entrepreneur and across multiple functions within the corporate world. Chris is a frequent speaker on sustainability and impact.

Chris resides in Atlanta, Georgia and Deer Isle, Maine and is a spouse and mother of two, an avid runner and gardener, a wanna-be skier and chef.

Sheffield specializes in guiding individuals and teams within organizations to accelerate the transition from business-as-usual to a regenerative and inclusive future. He helps organizations define a vision aligned to scientific principles, develop actionable goals, set strategies to achieve them and measure and communicate authentic impact.

Sheffield brings 14 years of global experience advising clients under Big Four and Investment Banking platforms serving a diverse array of clients in different industries, geographies and levels of sustainability maturity.

Sheffield lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his wife and child and finds joy in traveling, cooking, spending time on the lake with family and listening to music. He finds inspiration in re-exploring simple joys through children’s play with his son, infusing his work with a sense of curiosity, creativity, and imagination.

“My goal is to assist companies in gaining a practical and accurate understanding of their impact to foster meaningful progress.”

Margaret specializes in the credible and transparent measurement, reporting, and communication of climate, sustainability, and impact information. She employs an analytical approach to problem-solving and excels at bringing the right people together to make informed decisions.

Margaret spent over a decade at EY, starting as a financial statement auditor before transitioning to serve clients for more than 8 years as an auditor and advisor on environmental and social metrics. She is adept at helping clients navigate emerging ESG regulations, including CSRD, and co-authored the WBCSD and COSO’s “Applying ERM to ESG-related Risks.” Margaret has collaborated with clients across various sectors, including food and beverage, telecommunications, and transportation.

Margaret lives in Baltimore, MD with her partner. When she’s not working, you can find her running, doing yoga and hosting costume parties.

McKenna specializes in helping clients stay focused on what matters and drives value for society, their stakeholders and their business. McKenna distills complex sustainability topics into simple terms, helping clients cut through the noise and focus on actions that will lead to measurable outcomes.

McKenna has worked with clients across sectors, including large corporates and private equity portfolios, to help them further their sustainability goals. At Independence Point Advisors, she helped clients measure, manage, and communicate sustainability progress to stakeholders including investors. Prior to that, her role at Deloitte Consulting supported federal agencies in achieving public health and climate equity targets through stakeholder engagement and public-private partnerships.

Based in Toronto, ON, McKenna is happiest running around Lake Ontario, cooking with her partner and friends, or tearing through the latest book on her Kindle.

Charlotte brings expertise in helping investors and corporates navigate the intersection of impact and capital markets. Her focus areas include impact strategy and measurement, responsible investment integration, value creation, and reporting – all backed by data analysis and a thoughtful approach to stakeholder engagement.

Charlotte joined Impact Pathways from Independence Point Advisors (IPA), where she helped investors and corporates understand, improve, and communicate the value they create for people and the planet. Prior to IPA, Charlotte served in other sustainability-focused roles at KPMG and Malk Partners, advising leading private equity investors and portfolio companies on responsible investment and impact management.

Charlotte lives in San Diego, California with her partner and rescue animals. On weekends, you’ll find her experimenting with new pottery glazes, taking “board meetings” at local surf breaks, poring over the NYT Sunday crossword, and birdwatching in Southern California and beyond.

Emma Birch

“I am committed to reshaping the way we do business so that we can create the meaningful, lasting and inclusive social and environmental change needed to realize a more sustainable future.”

Emma bolsters the team’s expertise in helping steer the flow of capital to more responsible investors and investments. Her areas of focus include carbon accounting and decarbonization, biodiversity and sustainability within the built environment (as a LEED Green Associate), leveraging systems thinking to identify wholistic social and environmental solutions.

Prior to Impact Pathways, Emma served as an ESG and impact advisor at Malk Partners, where she helped leading private equity investors and their portfolio companies to more effectively manage risks and capitalize on opportunities for value creation throughout the investment lifecycle. Emma has engaged on sustainability strategy design and execution with companies from a wide range of growth phases, industries and stages of program maturity.

Emma lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado with her partner and two cats. She finds joy through movement, is energized by trying and learning new things, inspired by travel, grounded by spending time with family and friends and centered by practicing gratitude and mindfulness.
